Meet The Team

Bill Fioravanti, Chairman

Bill Fioravanti comes to the National StartUp Association with 20 years in business and non-profit work including Executive Director of Boys & Girls Clubs, Associate Executive Director YMCA, Vice President of Membership for the Orange County Chamber of Commerce, and Director of Business Attraction for the Orange County Partnership for Economic Development. He has enjoyed a rich and diverse career to date, spanning from youth development to economic development, and from strategic planning and visioning to sales, marketing and PR.

Sivan Cotel, Board Member

Sivan Cotel is the Co-Founder and Director of Operations for Stonecutter Spirits. Obsessed with aging methods, Stonecutter Spirits ages gin and whiskey in Middlebury, Vermont. Stonecutter's Single Barrel Gin was released in summer 2015 and won Double Gold and Best in Category at the 2016 San Francisco World Spirits Competition. This success was followed with the release of Stonecutter's Heritage Cask Whiskey in summer 2016 to rave reviews and a Gold medal at the New York World Wine and Spirits Competition! 


A craft spirits veteran focused on growing startups into businesses, Sivan was previously the Chief Operating Officer and Chief Financial Officer of WhistlePig Whiskey, producer of one of the highest-rated rye whiskies ever. With experience building and developing ideas from concept to fruition, Sivan also continues as an independent business consultant and enjoys helping new craft spirits companies develop their operational and business planning. Separately, he is the Vice-Chairman of the Board of Directors of Porter Medical Center, a non-profit hospital and health care system in Middlebury, Vermont. 


Sivan spent the first part of his career in financial services at Bear Stearns, J.P.Morgan, and Bank of America Merrill Lynch, after graduating with honors from Wesleyan University with a Bachelor's degree double-majoring in Psychology and Music and a Master's degree in Psychology. He currently lives in Vermont, and continues to play music in his spare time.

T. Martin Higgins, Board Member

With more than 15 years of retail management experience and a nearly 20 years as a public relations and marketing executive, Martin brings a wealth of practical know-how and an extensive national media rolodex to clients of Automatic PR, the media relations, marketing and events agency he founded in Narrowsburg, NY in 2009. He honed and refined his skills in events and media relations working with major brands such as Victoria’s Secret, Banana Republic, JCPenney, and Maidenform – to designers including Kenneth Cole, Diane von Furstenburg and Nicole Miller to launching celebrity fashion lines with Sarah Jessica Parker, Venus Williams and Laird Hamilton.  


Before opening his own shop, Martin led the publicity machine behind the celebrity driven power-retailer Steve & Barry’s where he launched seven brands nationwide in 14 months and supervised regional and local publicity tours. He also served as Senior Vice President at CreativeFeed for Taittinger Champagne, Fashion & Events Director at Manhattan PR agency Bratskeir & Company and M Booth & Associates where his clients included Lands’ End, Donna Karan/DKNY Intimates, Callaway Golf, L’Oreal Paris. Martin has also worked for Ruder Finn where he launched the Keurig Coffee Maker among other projects, and led consumer PR efforts for the American trade group Cotton Incorporated. 


Prior to making a career shift to PR, Martin was a retail entrepreneur opening a regional chain of “micro coffee roasteries” called JavaMaster in his hometown of Columbus, OH. From there he went on to help others realize the dream of owning their own coffee shop while working for a regional roaster. He is a graduate of Ohio State University with a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism and resides in Narrowsburg, NY, with offices there and in Manhattan.

Matt Dorcas, Board Member

Dorcas, an award-winning marketing professional, has worked in the field for more than two decades. Currently the EVP of Business Development at AJ Ross Creative, a full service marketing agency, Dorcas leads the agency's business recruitment and retention efforts in order to enhance and expand the client base. He has been singular in his commitment to both quality and community, dedicating years of hard work to bring world-class marketing to his clients. He won a grand prize in creative commercial production from the Cable Advertising Awards and two silver Tellys for his work with the Metropolitan YMCA of the Oranges. He also produced an award-winning short film with the renowned Maya Angelou. Most recently, Dorcas received the 2016 Edward A. Diana Alumni Leadership Award from SUNY Orange.

Eric Egeland, President

Mr. Egeland, founder and CEO of the National Startup Association, is a serial entrepreneur and tireless promoter of economic development and startups. Eric formed Capacity Consulting in 1999 that provides various consulting services in the areas of Economic Development and Startups. He is also a Partner in Capacity Bookkeeping. His passion and purpose is simply to see others succeed. NSUA was formed specifically to achieve this purpose for startup entrepreneurs with limited resources.

Joe Orman, Entrepreneur-in-CO.Lab

Mr. Orman is an Entrepreneur-in-CO.Lab with the National Startup Association. Bringing a wealth of startup experience and a current portfolio of ventures and investments in marketing, media, sales, tech, and financial services, Joe is passionate to help others achieve the results that are produced through effective collaboration.
