With more than 15 years of retail management experience and a nearly 20 years as a public relations and marketing executive, Martin brings a wealth of practical know-how and an extensive national media rolodex to clients of Automatic PR, the media relations, marketing and events agency he founded in Narrowsburg, NY in 2009. He honed and refined his skills in events and media relations working with major brands such as Victoria’s Secret, Banana Republic, JCPenney, and Maidenform – to designers including Kenneth Cole, Diane von Furstenburg and Nicole Miller to launching celebrity fashion lines with Sarah Jessica Parker, Venus Williams and Laird Hamilton.
Before opening his own shop, Martin led the publicity machine behind the celebrity driven power-retailer Steve & Barry’s where he launched seven brands nationwide in 14 months and supervised regional and local publicity tours. He also served as Senior Vice President at CreativeFeed for Taittinger Champagne, Fashion & Events Director at Manhattan PR agency Bratskeir & Company and M Booth & Associates where his clients included Lands’ End, Donna Karan/DKNY Intimates, Callaway Golf, L’Oreal Paris. Martin has also worked for Ruder Finn where he launched the Keurig Coffee Maker among other projects, and led consumer PR efforts for the American trade group Cotton Incorporated.
Prior to making a career shift to PR, Martin was a retail entrepreneur opening a regional chain of “micro coffee roasteries” called JavaMaster in his hometown of Columbus, OH. From there he went on to help others realize the dream of owning their own coffee shop while working for a regional roaster. He is a graduate of Ohio State University with a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism and resides in Narrowsburg, NY, with offices there and in Manhattan.
